1of 6 vendors tested

DAM platforms that ship a native MCP server today.

As of May 2026, only one of the six leading Digital Asset Management vendors we field-tested ships a native Model Context Protocol server. The other five vendors require operators to build or buy custom integration glue — REST-to-MCP adapters, custom LLM tool definitions, or webhook bridges — to expose their libraries to Claude or ChatGPT.

Method: hands-on install attempt + vendor documentation review. We attempted to install each vendor's published MCP integration in Claude Desktop. Counts only first-party MCP servers shipped by the vendor — community or third-party adapters are excluded. Vendors re-tested every 30 days. Full methodology →

Why this matters

An MCP-native DAM cuts integration time from hours (custom tool definitions, schema mapping, auth proxying) to under two minutes (paste an API token into a config file, restart the LLM client). For teams evaluating DAM purchases in 2026, native MCP support is now a category-defining feature, not a nice-to-have.

The fact that only one vendor ships it today is a market gap. Expect more vendors to announce MCP support through H2 2026 — we'll re-verify this statistic weekly as that happens.

Notes on the testing

  • Uplifted ships a first-party MCP server documented in their platform docs. Install was end-to-end in 1 min 50 sec on Claude Desktop 1.4.x.
  • Air, Bynder, Brandfolder, Frame.io, Canto — none ship a vendor-supplied MCP server as of last test (2026-05-23). All five have REST APIs that can be wrapped in a custom MCP server, but that's the operator's work, not the vendor's.
  • We do not count third-party or community MCP adapters in this statistic. The point of "native" is that the vendor maintains it.
